Monday 19th Sept – Neil Pacey, Richard Bendall Farcical start, mobile phone left in Inglesport so return made. Fornately bumped into Andy Walsh! Convinced him he should come and sort out the entrance so eventually got up the hill only to find I had left my helmet in the car. Retrieving helmet set off underground to join Neil. GREEN Lades sure lived up to it’s name! Forgot to ask Neil to take out film canister of Lucaphore from bag. It … Read More
Green Laids Pot (McShea’s Mine) – The story so far. (Bill, any history that you can add would be much appreciated). Sunday 21st August 2005 – Dave Ramsay, Ruth McDonald Spurred on after reading Rupert Skorupka’s article in Descent (168) and the description in Northern Caves 3, and forced into action following sickness (drink?) we took a wander over to the pot to see what we could see. The entrance was a mess of old fencing but the critical part … Read More
Monday 26th September 2005 Dave Ramsay, Richard Bendall A day of fun at this classic venue! A late start folowed by 30ish rounds of caps set off before departing for Inglesport for tea and cakes and battery charging with the intention of later firing off many rounds in quick succession. From here on in it all started to go wrong. Caps wouldn’t fire properly, rods kept getting stuck, holes drilled into voids and a strong structure which couldn’t be persuaded … Read More
Thursday 29th September 2005 Dave R, Rich B, Ruth McDonald Continued capping and spoil removal, the corner was gained where we had hoped the pot would pitch. A few more rounds enlarged the area enough for us to see around the corner, passage continues tight for about 2m before it turns left and a short fall is discernable. The passage will continue to cap but would be quicker to bang, Alan Speight has been called in and may do the … Read More

Thursday 6th October 2005 Dave Ramsay, Richard Bendall, Simon Joblin, Ruth McDonald later Jim Stevenson, Alan Speight. Big turn out to principally empty the bottom of spoil accumulated over the weeks. Many rubble sack loads hauled back up the rifts to leave plenty of space for the next assult. Job well done. 5 more holes drilled and a retreat to surface for Ruth to “do the honours”. Return planned for Fri to remove spoil.

Monday 10th October 2005 Dave Ramsay, Richard Bendall, Jim Stevenson, Alan Speight Many rounds of caps set off and good progress to pitch. Out to recharge batteries and eager return. Pitch head opened out but a litttle more work required before descent. Draft noticably absent. Have we filled way on with deads falling down pitch, atmosphreic changes or that bi-annual reversal coming in to play? Hence pitch a bit steamed up but could make out pile of deads about 10m … Read More

Slot enlarged and Richard shouted back for survey party to join him just as they … Read More

Thursday 3rd November 2005 Dave Ramsay, Richard Bendall Fairly wet conditions. Retrieved ladder from pitch and retreated to entrance where many buckets of sloppy mud and some boulders were removed to reduce the squalour factor for future exits. Rummaged aroind in flood overflow sink taking a lot of water and then called it a day.
Thursday 24th November 2005 Dave Ramsay, Richard Bendall. Capping trip with Dave’s recent e-bay purchase(by me!). After 5 very slow holes the drill packed up so early exit. Dave recognised a vehicle parked at Vally Entrance, a customer who lef the shop to do Simpsons at about 2pm. Time now 9:30. Decided to check with AN Others girl friend when he was due back. Also looked at flood overflow and cleared out some rocks. Friday 1st September Dave R Extremely wet! I’ve not seen Kingsdale beck so full. Scaffolded link between collapse and entrance so that hole is now ready for back filling. Had a look around and found a … Read More
