twenty feet of clear, uncapped, undug progress this weekend. The biggest single movement of men and equipment in one day since the dig was started! Things are definitively looking up. twelve feet high, very narrow rift in front with some capping to do. Typical East Kingsdale. Tim

Pete, Dave, Ruth… After you went Dave I finished capping and had a push at the end. Got to the left hand corner we could see and it looks much better going forward. A roof tube crosses the passage at the corner and you can turn round! It then goes forward on the left with the low stream bedding on the right. The roof tube bit has got a 9inch build up of silt with a thin calcite layer on … Read More

It’s been a good weekend for the Lords Top faithful.. I mentioned during the week a 50ft solo progress through two muddy tubes to open crawlway. Well saturday saw the team push round the next corner to another low bedding with the stream running over gravel, in front an encouraging echo. An hours wallowing dig saw us through to a new streamway some 6ft wide by 1ft high. Upstream was only pushed for 30ft but downstream soon increased to hands … Read More

Lugger, Dave & I surveyed all the main passages on sunday. The totals I received from Lugger were in feet (‘cos they sound bigger?). 1053ft long and 198ft deep or 320x60m in new money. We had a quick poke around the leads and dicovered that the only real way on is a low bedding which requires digging and its in the main stream! The whole cave trends west which is towards the Braida woods but the end turns north, up … Read More

Bill Sherrington and myself (Lionel Rice) nearly reached the end of the crawl. At one point we thought we were pushing new stuff but the passage does flood and evidence of previous visits is masked. I did a write up but did not circulate after trying in vain to obtain a survey to accompany the article. I will be putting it in the RRCPC Newsletter as they like old stuff. Without checking my records we did the trip in july … Read More

Dave ramsay and Bill Sheerrington went there 2 years ago in the summer in a dry spell. There was definately a difficult duck to negotiaTE THAT WOULD BE BEST BAILed . tHIS IS AT THE ARSE END OF THE PLACE after loads of crawling . The duck is a water logged dig which would be more difficult on the return.

Cresent Pot water

Does anyone know if the tracer test which is drawn on the hydrological map (figure 2) in T. M. Whitaker’s article in The Caver 1986 pg 64-74 was carried out or is inferred from the article in LUUSS 3, which is his only reference to Crescent pot? It suggests that Crescent Pot drains to Keld Head. If inferred does any one know is a tracer test of the water of Crescent has been carried out? Just wondering in Boot Trapper … Read More
